Two alleged killers of port city unit Jubo League activist Anik have been detained in Kolkata recently.

The arrestees are Md. Mohiuddin Tushar and Kalimuddin Khasru. Both of them have been handed over to the authorities of Bangladesh Police yesterday (Sunday).

Anik, 26, an activist of port city unit Jubo League, has been shot to death allegedly by his party fellows on Chatteshwari road in Dampara on June 18.

Abul Kamal, officer-in-charge of Chwakbazar Police Station, on that day said: “A gang of miscreants opened fire on Anik around 11pm on Sunday while he was standing outside, leaving him dead on the spot.”

Locals suspected that he has been killed over his long-standing enmity with party fellow Tushar.

City unit Awami League leader Gias Uddin said: “Tushar and Anik both were the followers of Chattogram city Mayor Nasir but, they had an enmity over establishing supremacy in the area.”
