Bangladesh and China signed three documents on security cooperation at a home minister-level meeting in the capital on Friday.

The documents were signed at a home minister-level meeting between the two countries, said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan while briefing journalists after the meeting at the Secretariat.

Bangladesh side sought China’s role to repatriate Rohingya people from Bangladesh to their homes in Myanmar, said the minister.

“Chinese side has appreciated Bangladesh government support in protecting Chinese investment and for providing safety for them,” the minister added.

Chinese Minister and Party Committee Secretary of the Ministry of Public Security Zhao Kezhi and Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan led the two sides at the meeting.

Before the bilateral meeting that last for around two hours, the Chinese Minister was given guard of honor in presence of his Bangladesh counterpart Asaduzzaman Khan.

This is the highest-level visit so far from China this year.

The bilateral relations between Bangladesh and China elevated to the ‘Strategic Partnership of Cooperation’, which maintains a new momentum of cooperation between the armed forces of the two nations, said the Chinese side.
