Some 24 Bangladeshi nationals on Tuesday afternoon returned home from Myanmar after serving jail sentences for different terms.
Under the supervision of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), they entered Bangladesh through Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf border.
A nine-member BGB team, led by Lt Col Md Faisal Hasan Khan, attended a flag meeting with seven-member Border Guard Police (BGP) of Myanmar around 1:30pm on Tuesday.
During the two-hour long meeting, issues on mutual interests, including drug smuggling, human trafficking and terrorist activities at the border area, were discussed.
After the meeting, BGP handed over 24 Bangladeshis –eight from Rangamati, three from Bandarban, 12 from Teknaf and one from Rajshahi—to BGB.
