Two ministries of Bangladesh government – Disaster Management and Relief Ministry and Land Ministry – have received the United Nations (UN) Public Service Award given for the years of 2021 and 2020 for their outstanding contribution in their respective sector’s development.
Disaster Management and Relief Ministry received the UN Public Service Award for the year of 2021while the Land Ministry for 2020.
On behalf of the ministries, Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury and State Minister for Disaster Management Dr Enamur Rahman on Monday received the awards at a programme held at Jumeirah Conference Center in United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday.
Catherine Pollard, the under secretary general for Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance of the UN, handed over the awards to the ministers at the event.
Disaster Management and Relief Ministry has received the award on ‘Gender responsive services for achieving the SDGs’ category while the Land Ministry on ‘Developing transparent and accountable institutions’ category.
A total of 17 initiaives of 15 countries were awarded at the event.
