‘Trinamool BNP’ to get EC registration

Following a court order, the Election Commission is set to grant registration to a new political party — Trinamool BNP.Election Commissioner Md Alamgir yesterday said the Appellate Division recently ordered to provide registration to the party.
“We do not have scope to go beyond any court order. We will implement the order as soon as possible,” Alamgir said while talking to the reporters at his EC office in the capital.
Asked if there would be any problem when there is more than one party with almost similar name, Alamgir said, “No. There are many other political parties with almost similar name like Jashod.”
He also said the court fixed “Golden Fibre” as the Trinamool BNP’s electoral symbol.
Former Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader Nazmul Huda formed Trinamool BNP and applied for registration as political party in December of 2017.
But the EC did not provide the registration as party, as they applied for it after the stipulated time, EC officials said.Later, the party leaders went to court and sought registration.
