Tipu, Preeti killers won’t be spared: Home Minister

Those who were involved in the murders of Awami League leader Tipu and college student Samia Afrin Jamal Preeti will be brought to justice, said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Friday.

“None will be spared as the government has asked the law enforcing agencies to take action against those who were responsible for the killing of Tipu and Preeti,” he told reporters at his residence at Dhanmondi on Friday evening.

Law enforcers including RAB and DB are working to arrest the killers and unearth the mystery behind the murders, he said.

Former Motijheel Thana Awami League general secretary Zahidul Islam Tipu, 54, and college student Samia Afrin Preeti, 18, were killed in indiscriminate firing of assailants in front of Manama high-rise building at North Shajahanpur in Dhaka at about 10:15pm on Thursday.

The Home Minister said legal action would be be taken against those who were behind the scene of the incident.

A case has been filed in connection with the murder of Zahidul Islam Tipu. Police are also preparing another case as the college student Preeti was killed in the same incident.
