GBnews24 desk//
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested its suspended director Khandaker Enamul Basir over the Tk 40-lakh bribery scandal.
A team of the national anti-graft body picked him up from his Darus Salam residence in the city around 10:15 pm on Monday, said ACC Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya.
He said Basir will be kept at Ramna Police Station overnight.
The arrest came six days after the ACC filed a case against Basir and suspended Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police Mizanur Rahman over the Tk 40-lakh bribery scandal.
Sheikh Mohammad Fanafillah, ACC director and also the leader of the investigation team, filed the case with Dhaka-1 coordinated district office under the Anti-Corruption Commission on Tuesday last.
Earlier, the ACC gave its approval to filing of the case against them.
A private TV channel reported recently that Mizan gave Tk 40 lakh to Enamul Basir to get clean chit in a corruption case.
Basir was suspended on June 10 for allegedly leaking information, a breach of job discipline.
Besides, Mizan was shown arrested in the case on Sunday
