Students block road in Dhaka as bus hits fellow

A group of students on Monday blocked road, staged sit-in programme in city’s Uttara area as bus of Ena Paribahan hit their fellow.

Students of the Milestone Collge blocked road in Uttara House Building and Azampur areas at about 5.00pm and chanted slogans demanding justice and road safety. At this time there was severe traffic jam on both sides of the road.

DMP Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADC) Badrul Hasan a bus of ENA Paribahan hit a student of the college on Sunday, leaving him injured.

Classmates and other students of the college blocked the road in the afternoon protesting the incident, he said.

Uttara West Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shah Akhtaruzzaman Elias said the students first took to the streets in the House Building area. Though they lift the blockade from that area but they later went to Azampur and staged sit-in there.

Students of other educational institutions also joined the protest expressing solidarity, he said.
