Shakib shines as Barbados qualify for CPL play-off


Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan came up with another sterling performance in both batting and bowling to propel Barbados Tridents to the last four of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) on Sunday.

Shakib scored 22 runs and took one wicket in economical bowling effort as Barbados sealed a 24-run win over St Lucia Zouks at Bridgetown, a victory that quelled their doubt over to play the play-off, according to CPL website.

In a tough pitch, Tridents were restricted to 141-6 but Shakib strangled the Zouks from the beginning for runs as they were finally bowled out for 117 in 18.4 overs.

Off-spinner Hayden Walsh however was the most successful bowler for Barbados with 4-26 while Harry Gurney took 3-17.

For Barbados, Johnson Charles was the highest scorer with 36 ball-47 runs, hitting four fours and two sixes. Justin Greaves scored 27 not out
