Security beefed up for golden jubilee, victory day celebrations

The DMP commissioner said this at a press briefing on law and order held at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
Additional law enforcement personnel have been deployed to strengthen surveillance, especially in the capital considering the global situation and various domestic issues, he added.
Four-tier security measures including the President’s Guard Regiment (PGR), Detective brunch of police, Special Security Force (SSF) and Armed Police Battalion (APBN) have been taken for the occasion while each venue of the celebrations will be swept by the SB, SSF, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and DMP dog squads.
Members of the law enforcement agencies will be deployed both in uniform and with plain cloth in every multi-storey building in the vicinity of the parliament building, he said, adding that the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT)’s special unit and bomb disposal unit will remain vigilant round the clock to thwart any unwanted situation.
He said security personnel will set up check posts in city’s different points including the diplomatic zones for the Victory Day celebration.
Law enforcers will also be on alert at key areas of the capital.
Security checkpoints will be set up while security personnel will patrol to ensure security at victory day arrangements such as meetings and cultural programmes, he said.
Security will be tightened at the premises of national Parade ground as Jatiya Sangsad (JS) many foreign dignitaries will join those venues on the occasion of the victory day, he continued.
The DMP commissioner said block raids are being carried out on suspicious residential hotels, multi-storied buildings, mess, halls and houses ahead of the celebrations to ensure proper safety.
Meanwhile, he asked the students, who are participating in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination this year, to leave their houses early or with additional time in hands aiming to attend the examination centers tomorrow.
