Schoolgirl ‘gang-raped’ at Rajshahi councilor’s house, 3 held

Police have arrested three persons for their alleged involvement in the ‘gang-rape’ of a schoolgirl at the residence of a municipality councilor in Rajshahi’s Godagari upazila.

The arrestees are—Osman Goni, 16, son of Shahidul Islam, councilor of No 6 ward in the municipality, Riduar Ali Khandaker, 16, son of Khandaker Md Obaidul Haque, of Srimantapur village and Tareque, 17, son of Mostafa of Jodgemaidas area.

Khairul Islam, OC of Godagari Police Station, said: “The accused called the girl to the house and violated her there on Monday afternoon. The victim’s father filed a rape case with Godagari Police Station the same day.”

“Later, police arrested the trio on Monday night for their suspected involvement in the rape of the ninth-grader,” he added.

The OC said the victim was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital’s One-Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) for a test.
