Ronaldo scores 700th goal during Potugal’s defeat to Ukraine

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 700th career goal during Portugal’s 2-1 defeat to Ukraine on Monday.

It was his 95th goal for Portugal, with only Iran’s Ali Daei (109) ahead of him on the all-time international goals list.

Ronaldo reached the sensational milestone with a penalty but he and his team-mates were unable to find an equalizer against the 10 men of Ukraine.

The 34-year-old has scored more career goals than any other active player in professional football, edging the 672 amassed by his former La Liga adversary Lionel Messi.

Ronaldo sits sixth in the all-time top men’s goalscorers list in football history, behind Gerd Muller (735), Ferenc Puskas (746), Pele (767), Romario (772) and Josef Bican (805) – however, the data for both Puskas and Bican is not fully verified
