The police have issued a red alert at all the international airports, land and riverports in the country in order to prevent the escaping of the accused in Barguna youth Rifat Sharif murder case.

The red alert was issued this morning in line with the directives of the High Court that yesterday asked the authorities concerned to stop the escaping of the killers of Rifat.

Police Headquarters’ Assistant Inspector General (media) Sohel Rana confirmed the news.

Shah Newaj Rifat Sharif, 22, a resident of Sadar upazila, was hacked to death by four miscreants in broad daylight in front of Barguna Government College on Wednesday afternoon.

A video of the incident that has gone viral on the social media platforms showed that the wife of the victim was trying to protect her husband from the criminals. Despite her desperate request, the criminals hit the youth with local sharp weapons, leaving him severely injured.

He was rushed to Barguna General Hospital and later shifted to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, where he was declared dead around 3:00 pm.

Dulal Sharif, the father of victim Rifat Sharif, filed a case against 12 people including Chandan with Barguna Sadar Police Station.

At least three accused have been arrested as far in the case
