Raveena urges Mumbai metro relocation to save Aarey forest
The Aarey forest, known as the lungs of Mumbai, are being chopped down to make way for a car shed for the Mumbai Metro. Several Bollywood celebrities have strongly reacted to the move, criticizing the decision.
Sharing her stand Raveena shared on Twitter, “For the uneducated – NO ONE IS AGAINST THE METRO. The metro is MOST WELCOME AND NEEDED. JUST CHANGE OF LOCATION FOR PARKING LOT. IS ALL WHAT MUMBAIKARS ARE ASKING”.
Apart from Raveena, Alia Bhatt had posted, “There’s always been a conflict between development & conservation. Yes, the city needs to build infrastructure to support a growing population. But the city also needs trees & parks & greenery. We need to protect nature as life depends on it. Because it does.”
While Sidharth Malhotra had stated, “Heard the terrible news about the cutting down of trees in #AareyForest started last night! The ecological imbalance this can cause is beyond control & it must stop. I urge the authorities to help #SaveAarey if not for us, for our future generations.
