Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said people’s trust in the country’s independent judiciary was further established over the verdict in Holey Artisan case.

“Militants cannot get escaped during the reign of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and this is proved. The verdict of Holey Artisan Bakery attack case is an alarm to the militants. This verdict has established a peaceful future for
the people of Bangladesh,” he said. Quader, also the Awami League General Secretary, was addressing the

triennial conference of Jashore Zila Awami League on Jashore Eidgaon ground.

Speaking as the chief guest, he said leaving internal conflicts, all the AL leaders and activists must work together to strengthen the party.

There is no need to recruit opportunists and extortionists in the AL to make the party a bigger one, the Awami League General Secretary said, issuing a warning that corrupt people, tender manipulators and drug traders will not be able to intrude into the AL.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has started a cleanliness drive from her own home (her party), Quader said, adding she is giving lessons to others by punishing her own people – this is the policy of Sheikh Hasina.

Chaired by Jashore Zila Awami League president Shahidul Islam Milon, the inaugural session of the conference was addressed, among others, by Awami League joint general secretaries – Mahbubul Alam Hanif and Abdur Rahman, its organising secretary Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Swapan and AL central committee member SM Kamal.

AL presidium member Pijush Kanti Bhattacharya inaugurated the conference.
