Alleging that the country is now running under constitutional dictatorship, Jatiya Party chairman GM Quader has said country people are not able to chant the slogan “Sairachar nipat jak, Ganatantra mukti pak” (Down with autocracy, democracy be free).”
“During the rule of Hussain Muhammad Ershad, people were able to chant slogans that “Down with autocracy, democracy be free.” But, is the people of the country now chant this same slogan?” said Quader while addressing at the biennial conference of Gazipur city unit JaPa in Gazipur on Friday.
GM Quader said, “There is no good governance in the country now. Constitutionally, dictatorship is going on in the country. Democracy is not possible under the current constitution.”
Now many leaders of Awami League and BNP are joining Jatiya Party, said the party chairman.
He further said, “Awami League and BNP are failed to keep their promises to the people of the country during their tenures after 1991. The parties have created inequality between the people. No one can get a job without being engaged with the politics of Awami League and BNP. No one can do business without being the member of ruling party.”
GM Quader said that no one knows who is controlling the transport sector of the country.
“Some associations and unions have taken the transport sector hostage. Some responsible officials of the government are sacrificing the interests of the common people by conspiring with the transport sector. So the anarchy in public transport is not decreasing,” he added.
JaPa Gazipur city unit convener MM Niaz Uddin presided over the conference while the party secretary general Mujibul Haque Chunnu; presidium members Rezaul Islam Bhuiyan, Liaquat Hossain, Abdus Sattar Miah; chairman’s advisor Sherifa Quader, joint secretary general Belal Hossain, and the city unit member secretary Mosharraf Hossain, among others, spoke.
