N’ganj mosque explosion: 8 suspended Titas staff remanded

A court in Narayanganj on Saturday put each of eight suspended officials and employees of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd on a two-day remand in a case filed over Narayanganj mosque explosion.
Police pleaded five-day remand for each of the accused, but Senior Judicial Magistrate Kawser Alam granted two-day remand for each in the afternoon, said court police inspector Asaduzzaman.
Eight accused are Titas’s Fatulla zone manager M Sirajul Islam, deputy manager Mahmudur Rahman Rabbi, assistant engineers SM Hasan Shahriar and Manik Mia, senior superviser Monibur Rahman Chowdhury, M Aiyub Ali, Hanif Mia and Ismail Prodhan.
Earlier, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested eight accused from Narayanganj’s Fatullah area in the morning. They were suspended from their posts for their negligence over the Narayanganj mosque explosion incident.
Around 40 people were injured in the blasts at Baitul Salam Jame Mosque in Fatullah after Esha prayer on September 4.
Of them, 37 were taken to the Dhaka hospital in critical condition and 33 of them have died so far.
