National Professor Sufia Ahmed passes away



National Professor Sufia Ahmed has died of cardiac arrest at a hospital in the capital. She was 87.

The Language Movement veteran breathed her last at United Hospital at 8:50pm on Thursday.

Advocate Md Asaduzzaman, a member of Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed and Associates, confirmed the news.

Sufia, the wife of former advisor to the caretaker government Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed, was a professor at the Islamic history and culture department of Dhaka University.

She left behind her son and daughter to mourn her death. She will be buried at Banani graveyard.
