The first look of “Mother Teresa & Me”, an upcoming film that portrays Mother Teresa’s early years in India, recently greeted the audience with its first poster. Directed by Kamal Musale, the film features Deepti Naval and Banita Sandhu in the central roles.

Taking to her social media accounts, Deepti Naval shared the poster with a caption, saying, “Mother Teresa & Me – coming shortly. This drama traces Mother Teresa’s beginnings in the slums of Calcutta in 1950 and her loss of faith, alongside the story of Kavita, a young English woman of Indian origin abandoned by her partner when he learns she is pregnant. A film about compassion without a political or religious agenda.”

Speaking about her role in the film, Banita Sandhu shared to media, “We are very similar in many ways. She is a young girl still figuring out her life and identity. Trying to process and work through her relationships and her relationship with herself. However, our reactions to these things are very different, which is what drew me to her. She can get quite agitated, which I found difficult to relate to at first. We put in a lot of effort in rehearsals.”

“Mother Teresa & Me” also stars Kevin Mains, Shobu Kapoor, Lina Baishya, and Mahi Ali Khan, amongst others. The project is set to premiere theatrically in both English and Hindi, on coming May 5.
