Man detained for murder in city

Police detained a young man in the city’s Mohammadpur area on Monday after receiving a phone call through national emergency helpline 999.

A caller from ‘Hossain Saheber Gully’ of the area called the national emergency helpline 999 at noon and reported a murder incident, said a press release sent by 999 media cell.

Later, Mohammadpur Police Station SI Rabiul Islam along with his team went to the spot and recovered the body of a Nazrul, 45, a resident of Mymensingh, and sent it to hospital morgue.

Police also detained the accused Rahat Mia, 25, of Trishal upazila in Mymensingh.

They are brother-in-law in relation. It is primarily suspected that the murder occurred over family feud.
