Shahid Kapoor starrer Jersey will hit the chords of your heart with its emotionally-soaked and inspirational narrative. The film is an official Hindi remake of Nani-starrer Jersey (Telugu), which even won a National award. The story gives out a simple message – Life is all about second chances and one should grab it before it’s too late.
The Gowtam Tinnanuri directorial revolves around domestic cricketer Arjun Talwar, who despite being the best cricketer gives up his ambition to play for Indian cricket team. 10 years later, he picks up the bat again to finally fulfil his dreams. But, why did he quit? That is the question that you will keep guessing as you sit at the edge of your seat.
The film portrays Arjun’s journey so aesthetically that the characters will touch you and you will relate to them. Defying all odds, he is not accepted back into the cricket world as a player, because he is already at the age of retirement. It sounds very realistic when one says that the cricket board would not invest in a player who does not have age by his side, but what if he is worthy? Shahid impresses with his skilful change of emotions and the struggle to get what he deserves.
Other than the protagonist, the narrative of the film beautifully shows the son and father relationships – one which Arjun has with his son Kittu and the other is between Shahid and Pankaj Kapoor (Shahid’s coach). Both the relationships are the high-points of the narrative as one helps Shahid to achieve his goals and his little son is a motivation for him, who considered him as a hero.
