The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has directed to handover two daughters – aged 11 and 7–to the custody of their Japanese mother Nakano Erico at their Gulshan residence on December 13 and 14.

The five-member Appellate Division bench headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain gave the directive on Sunday after hearing on an appeal plea filed by the mother.

At the same time, the Appellate Division bench directed to bring two children to the court at 9:30am on December 15 (Wednesday).

The SC will pass further order on the day.

As per the directive, the two girls will start staying with their mother from 10:00pm on Sunday.

On December 7, Japanese citizen Nakano Erico appealed against the High Court (HC) verdict that gave custody rights of her two daughters to their father.

The appeal plea was filed seeking stay on the recent HC verdict, confirmed Erico’s lawyer Shishir Monir.

“The mother wants custody of the two girls,” the lawyer added.

On November 21, the HC had directed that the two Japan-born children of Erico and Bangladesh-born US citizen Imran Sharif will remain with their father.
