Ityadi’s filming halted for two hours due to huge crowd in Thakurgaon
Filming for the popular magazine show “Ityadi” was interrupted for a couple of hours last night at Rajbari village in Thakurgaon’s Ranisankail upazila due to a huge crowd.
Ranisankail Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Rockybul Hassan told The Daily Star this morning that the programme was scheduled to start around 6:00pm yesterday.
The organisers, with the help of local administration, made a seating arrangement for about 4,000 people at Raja Tankanath’s Rajbari compound, an ancient archaeological site of the district.
According to Ranisankail Station Officer-in-charge Arshedul Haque, the district administration distributed gate passes to the invitees accordingly. But thousands of people started gathering at the event from the afternoon. By the time filming began, thousands of people had gathered at the entrance, looking to enter the premises without gate passes.
At one stage, the huge crowd entered the venue, creating a chaotic situation.
As the situation went beyond control, Hanif Sanket, the renowned anchor, asked people to sit on the ground, said the OC.
Then the shooting of the magazine programme started around 6:30pm but after two items were performed, a scuffle took place among the audience, leading to filming stopping for about two and half hours, the OC added.
The shooting resumed around 11:00pm when most of the audience and the crowd left the place, and it concluded around 1:00am today.
The venue was selected by the organisers to promote the archaeological heritage before the countrymen and bring attention to the authority concerned for taking effective steps to preserve the ancient site, the police official said.
