Hindu widows to get share of all properties of husbands: HC



The High Court (HC) on Wednesday pronounced a verdict saying that the country’s Hindu widows would inherit not only homesteads, but also all properties.

A single HC bench of Justice Miftah Uddin Chowdhury passed the order on Wednesday (September 2).

The apex court came up with the verdict in a case filed regarding the property of a Hindu family.

Barrister Syed Nafiul Islam, lawyer of a widow woman confirmed about the verdict.

He said, “A Hindu widow usually was inheriting ownership of homestead of her husband. With this verdict, Hindu widows will also own all properties including agricultural land.”
