Graft case against Mirza Abbas: SC clears way for running trial
GBNEWS24DESK//
The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court today (October 25, 2022) upheld a High Court verdict that cleared the way for a lower court to continue the trial of a corruption case filed against BNP leader Mirza Abbas.
A full bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique dismissed an appeal filed by Mirza Abbas challenging the HC judgement.
Details of the grounds on which the apex court passed the dismissal order could not be known as its full text was not released yet.
On November 11, 2019, the HC rejected a petition filed by Mirza Abbas for scrapping the case proceedings.
The Anti-Corruption Commission filed the case with Ramna Police Station on 2007 accusing Abbas of amassing illegal wealth beyond known sources of income and concealing information about his wealth.
