Govt asks existing UPs to perform duties till next polls

The Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives has asked the existing Union Parishads to perform their duties in order to remove the administrative hurdles till the holding of next election of the Union Parishads (UPs) which have already expired and will expire soon.
It was informed in a circular, issued by the Ministry of Local Government on Tuesday.
It was also informed that the Election Commission (EC) has postponed the election in order to avoid public gatherings due to sharp rise of COVID-19 all over the world including Bangladesh.
