Leaders of Jatiya Oikyafront led by Dr Kamal Hossain, are set to meet the Election Commission today, seeking deferment of the national election by a month.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir disclosed this yesterday after an alliance meeting at Dr Kamal Hossain’s Motijheel Chamber.
He said: “An Oikyafront delegation will hold a meeting with the Election Commission at Nirbachan Bhaban on Wednesday at 12 pm. We will urge the EC to defer the election date by a month.”
Earlier, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda said that there was no scope of delaying the election schedule further for the 11th parliamentary polls.
Earlier on November 8, a fresh election schedule was announced by the Election Commission and according to the new date, the general election would be held on December 30.
The 11th national election was set to hold on December 23 this year.
