Deepika Padukone and Prabhas to come together for Mahanati
Deepika Padukone and Prabhas might be coming together for a pan-India film. According to reports, the official announcement of the film will be made soon. It is tentatively titled Prabhas 21.
The buzz is that the film will be set against the backdrop of a fictional third world war and that it will be helmed by Mahanati director Nag Ashwin. The supposedly big-budget venture will see Deepika and Prabhas coming together on the big screen for the first time.
The film is expected to go on floors in April next year and will be slotted for release in 2022. The pre-production of the film, it has been reported, has not commenced yet and that a decision in that regard will be taken once the COVID-19 crisis recedes.
Meanwhile, Deepika, who is currently quarantining with her husband Ranveer Singh at their Mumbai residence, was last seen in Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak. The film, based on the real-life story of acid-attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal, had received mixed reviews from film critics. The film had turned out to be an underperformer at the box office, ending up with lifetime collection of about Rs 35 crore.
Deepika, one of the top actresses of the B-town, will be seen next in Kabir Khan’s 83 in the role of Romi Bhatia, wife of former Indian cricket team captain Kapil Dev. The sports drama is slated for a Christmas 2020 release.
Prabhas, on the other hand, was last seen in the mega-budgeted Saaho, which had turned out to be an average affair at the box office. The film, released in August last year, was severely panned by film critics.
