Cyclonic storm ‘Jawad’ over west-central bay and adjoining area moved northwest further and lies over the same area.

It was centred at 12 noon on Saturday (Dec 4, 2021) about 1,005 kms southwest of Chattogram Port, 965 kms southwest of Cox’s Bazar Port, 850 kms south-southwest of Mongla Port and 865 kms south-southwest of Payra Port. It is likely to move further in a northerly direction.

Maximum sustained wind speed within 54km of the cyclone centre is about 62kph, rising to 88kph in gusts/squalls.

Sea will remain very rough near the cyclone shelter.

Under the influence of the peripheral effect of the cyclonic storm, deep convection is taking place over north bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.

Due to this reason rain/thundershowers with temporary gusty/squally wind of 40-50 kph is likely7 to occur over north bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.

Under the influence of cyclonic storm Jawad created in the Bay of Bengal, the sky has remained clouded and drizzling has been taking place in Satkhira district from Saturday morning. Water levels in several rivers under the coastal Ashshuni and Shyamnagar upazilas have increased.

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to lower distant warning signal No. 2, but instead hoist local cautionary signal number 3.

All fishing boats and trawlers over north bay and deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
