CID team visits Safari Park over animal’s death

A team of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has started investigation into the deaths of several animals in the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park in Gazipur.

On Monday noon, they collected samples from the park for tests at laboratory.

The CID team, led by Dr. Rezaul Karim Khan, visited the spot and talked to the officials of the park.

Superintendent of Gazipur CID Anjan Kumar, Animal Resources officer Dr. Ukil Uddin, Sreepur Upazila Animal Resources officer Dr. Rukonuzzaman Palash were, among others, present at that time.

Md Arju Miah, assistant superintendent Gazipur CID, said an expert forensic team of CID collected samples such as animal feed, soil, grass etc. from the spot as the direction of the Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

The team will unearth the actual reason of the death of the animals, he added.

So far this year, 11 zebras, a tiger and lioness died at the Safari Park where 10 zebras died from January 2 to 24.
