Biman Bangladesh Airlines has started training  foreign pilots which they believe will help the national flag carrier to earn foreign currency.

This training is being given on modern Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

The Biman authorities have claimed that such training programmes are a first in the aviation history of South Asia, meaning Biman is the first among the SAARC countries to train foreign pilots on the 787 Dreamliner.

Several Biman officials told The Daily Star that such training will also help increase the image of Biman abroad.

The training programme started yesterday by giving training to a pilot of a Mongolian airline on Dhaka-Sylhet-London route.

Similarly, twelve pilots of Mongolian state airline will receive training on Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

According to Biman, three pilots of Mongolian Airlines are being trained in the first batch.

Necessary approval has been taken from the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh in this regard.

Shafiul Azim, managing director and chief executive officer of Biman, said there are plans to expand the scope of this training in the future.
