finally moving ahead to the normal, of course, with some major changes. The coronavirus pandemic struck the nation in early March and as a result, the Government announced a complete lockdown across India. Theatres and movie halls, across the nation, were shut down, hence forcing all movies to reschedule their release date or find another mode of release. Many shifted to the digital mode of viewing and released their films on various OTT platforms. However, now, the government has allowed the re-opening of theatres across the nation from tomorrow, October 15. As per the new Unlock 5 guidelines, cinemas and multiplexes have been allowed to reopen with 50 percent seating capacity.

This comes in as a piece of great news for cinephiles, who have been waiting to see their favourite stars on-screen, once again. While many movies will now release in theatres, as a treat for fans, there are many films which will re-release in theatres!

So, now that you are well aware of the restrictions and safety measures, it’s time you choose a movie to watch.  Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to twitter and shared that many films including Sushant Singh Rajput’s Kedarnath is all set to be re-released on the big screens.

Movies set to re-release on screen

  1.  Tanhaji
  2. Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan
  3. Malang
  4. Kedarnath
  5. Thappad
  6. War

However, the movies that have already released on OTT platforms will not be re-released in theatres. Movies like Shakuntala Devi, Sadak 2, and more will not see a theatrical release.

“IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENT… There was talk that films premiered on #OTT platforms [#DilBechara, #Sadak2, #ShakuntalaDevi, #KhudaHaafiz, #GunjanSaxena, #GulaboSitabo] *might* release in cinemas… But leading multiplex chains [#PVR, #INOX, #Carnival] decide NOT TO SCREEN these films.”, read the trade analyst’s tweet.

With so many movies to rewatch on big screens, we bet you already have big weekend plans!
