Aishwarya Rai marks International Day for the Elimination of Violence

International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women comes every year on November 25. This day is aimed to prevent and eliminate the instances of violence in all forms that women are subjected to around the world. It is an initiative started by the United Nations General Assembly to stop violence against women and girls (VAWG). This year’s theme, “Orange the World: Fund, Respond, Prevent, Collect!” centred around bridging the funding gaps to ensure essential services for the survivors of violence during the ongoing pandemic.
To mark this day and share her contribution to the noble cause, Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan took to her Instagram profile and showed unity. The post, although, was a part of a brand advertisement, which the former Miss World is the brand ambassador of.

Aishwarya who is also known for her social work has been appointed as the new international Goodwill Ambassador for UNAIDS, the joint United Nations programme on AIDS and HIV. She raises global awareness on protecting children from HIV infection and increasing access to antiretroviral treatment.
