GBNEWS24 DESK//
Even the coronavirus pandemic has not been able to stop the workaholic Akshay Kumar. One of the busiest actors in the Hindi film industry, Akshay has now resumed work on Yash Raj Films’ Prithviraj, wherein he will be seen playing the titular role. The high-budgeted film is directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi.
Dwivedi said that the team was excited to be back on sets after over six months of hiatus caused due to the pandemic. “Yes, we have resumed Prithviraj shoot at YRF studios and the entire team is excited to have a great shooting schedule,” the filmmaker said in a statement.
Prithviraj, which sees Akshay reuniting with YRF after a long time, marks the acting debut of Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar, who will be seen playing the role of Sanyogita, one of the three wives of Prithviraj.
According to the press release issued by YRF, an extravagant set has been erected inside the YRF Studios and all the safety guidelines are being followed by the cast and crew.
Prithviraj, also featuring Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood in pivotal roles, was announced in September last year and was scheduled to hit the screens on Diwali this year. However, given the current situation, it had to be postponed. A new release date for the film is yet to be announced.
For those not in the know, Akshay recently wrapped up the shoot of Bell Bottom in the UK, which co-stars Vaani Kapoor, Huma Qureshi and Lara Dutta. The spy thriller is directed by Ranjit Tewari of Lucknow Central fame and is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on April 2 next year.
Akshay’s next release is Laxmmi Bomb, which will arrive on Disney+Hotstar on November 9. There are rumours that since theatres are reopening in India on October 15, the film might release in Indian theatres as well.
