Sheikh Kamal’s 73rd birthday observed

Different political parties and socio-cultural organisations including Awami League observed the 73rd birth anniversary of Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of Bangladesh’s founding president Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in a befitting manner on Friday.

Born on August 5, 1949 at Tungipara in Gopalganj, Sheikh Kamal was killed on August 15, 1975 at the age of 26.

Marking the day, Awami League and its associate bodies paid homage to Sheikh Kamal by placing wreaths at his portrait at Abahani Club premises at Dhanmondi on Friday morning.

With the central leaders of Awami League, the party’s general secretary Obaidul Quader first placed wreaths on the portrait.

At that time, Awami League presidium members Motia Chowdhury, Abdur Razzaque, Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Hasan Mahmud, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Ahmad Hossain, BM Mozammel Huque, Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Swapan, Mirza Azam, Abdus Sobhan Golap, Delwar Hossain, Biplob Barua and Aminul Islam, among others, were present.

Afterward, the party’s associate bodies including Krishak League, Mohila Awami League, Jubo League, Jubo Mohila League, Swecchasebak League, Chhatra League and different socio-cultural organisations paid respect to Sheikh Kamal by placing wreaths on his portrait.
