While most of us were gushing over BTS’ gorgeous looks in their recent photoshoot, the publication behind the shoot has landed itself in some hot waters. BTS fans aka ARMY has taken to Twitter to voice their displeasure with the ‘offensive questions’ that BTS was forced to answer during the interview.

The most controversial topic that was brought up during the interview seems to be the question directed towards BTS and their agency HYBE about ‘chart manipulations’. More specifically, how Army was involved in doing so due to mass streaming and bulk buying. Billboard noted that fans would boost sales by purchasing multiple versions of the same song and manipulate other such ‘loopholes’.

BTS’ leader RM answered the question by emphasizing that if this is not what a Top 1 should represent, “then it’s up to them (Billboard) to change the rules and make streaming weigh more on the ranking.” Coming to the defence of his fans, RM further stated that he doesn’t think it’s right to slam BTS or their fans for doing well in physical sales and downloads. He feels like they are ‘easy targets’ because they are a K-pop act with a loyal fanbase.

While the leader was applauded for the way he handled the question, fans were left fuming that the question was asked in the first place.
