President M Abdul Hamid reaches London for health checkup

President M Abdul Hamid today reached London on eight-day visit for health checkup and treatment of eyes.

“A VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Limited carrying the President arrived at Heathrow International Airport in the British Capital at about 4:45 pm (London time),” President’s Assistant Press Secretary Imranul Hasan told journalists tonight.

The President was received by Bangladesh High Commissioner to the UK Mohammad Nazmul Quaunine at the airport, reports BSS.

Abdul Hamid is scheduled to have his checkup at Moorfields Eye Hospital and Bupa Cromwell Hospital in London.

Earlier, the national flag carrier aircraft carrying the President took off from Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport at 10:55 am today.

“The President is expected to return home on July 15 next,” he added.

Earlier, the 74-year old President Hamid underwent health checkup there on October last.

Abdul Hamid has been suffering from Glaucoma since long. He used to have his health checkup in London while he was the Speaker in the Jatiya Sangsad (parliament).
