No buses, trains to ply in Khulna for a week

A weeklong stricter lockdown is going to be imposed in Khulna on Tuesday (June 22) in the wake of rising transmission of deadly coronavirus infection.
The restriction was imposed by a public release signed by Khulna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Helal Hossain on Sunday (June) afternoon.
The public release reads that both arrival at and departure of trains from Khulna Railway Station will remain suspended during the lockdown period. At the same time, plying of all modes of public transports inside the district and inter-district will remain suspended.
Moreover, plying of all other light vehicles including easybikes, three-wheelers etc will remain suspended.
All kinds of shops, markets, shopping malls and coaching centres will remain closed from June 22 to June 28. However, shops selling essentials and shops at kitchen markets will remain open from 7:00am to 2:00pm everyday. Hotels and restaurants will be able to supply food in the form of parcels during this time. Medicine shops can be kept opened round-the-clock.
All types of tourist spots, community centres, resorts and recreation centres will remain close. All types of weekly hats/cattle markets inside the district will remain closed. None will be able to go outside their homes without very emergency situation. All must wear masks during their stay at outside.
However, the officials and employees employed in urgent duties at government and non-government offices will be able to move outside with the identity cards issued by their respective offices.
It has been requested all in Khulna district and city to follow the restrictions strictly, the release says, adding that otherwise, legal action will be taken against the persons concerned.
