Top leaders of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh have said the organisation’s central joint secretary general Moulana Mamunul Huq’s second marriage is lawful.
“Moulana Mamunul Huq and his wife went to Royal Resort at Sonargaon in Narayanganj on April 3. We are confirmed that their marriage was completely authentic according to the Islamic Shariah. There is no scope of confusion here,” a senior Hefazat leader said taking part in an emergency meeting of Hefezat-e-Islam Bangladesh Dhaka’s central committee which was held at Jamia Rahmania with Nayebe Ameer Moulana Abdul Hamid Pir Saheb Modhupuri.

Leaders at the meeting said that any citizen of the country deserves the right to go anywhere else taking his wife or family with him. But the way the terrorists swooped on a well-known person like Moulana Mamunul Huq was unprecedented. “We strongly condemn it and demand to arrest the accused,” they said.

They also observed that the way the personal details of a citizen were placed in Jatiya Sangsad was unprecedented and undesirable. People had never expected it. “We strongly call upon the Speaker to withdraw the remarks against Moulana Mamunul Huq in parliament.”

The leaders also said the Hefazat leaders and activists, and common people came under violent attacks at Baitul Mukarram, Hathazari, Brahmanbaria and Munshiganj on March 26, 27 and 28 last. The attacks resulted in the death of 20 people in Brahmanbaria and Hathazari. “The culprits involved in the killing must have to be brought to justice through investigation. Besides, hundreds of our activists were arrested across the country. They must be freed as early as possible,” the leaders said.
