Hospital staff dies by setting himself on fire



An employee of Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in the capital has allegedly committed suicide by setting himself on fire.
Deceased Azizul Islam Milon, 30, was physically disabled. He was working as a reception assistant at the hospital.
Milon set himself on fire inside a toilet of the hospital by pouring spirit on him at 1.00am on Friday. Later, other colleagues rescued him and took him to the ICU of the Burn Institute.
Dr. Partha Shankar Pal, residential medical officer of the hospital, said Milon died at the hospital on Saturday morning while undergoing treatment there.
Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost, said initially, it is believed that he (Milon) had committed suicide by setting himself on fire.
“The body has been kept in the morgue for autopsy. Details of the death would be known after getting the autopsy report,” he added.
