Five NYC senators due today

Five New York City State Senators will arrive today on a week-long visit to observe on the ground the massive development, taking place in Bangladesh.
Led by Senator Luis Sepulveda, the delegation, comprising five State Senators and three staff members, will meet with high level dignitaries as well as travel to Sylhet and Cox’s Bazar, a foreign affairs press release said today.
The five senators provide strong support and cooperation to the Bangladeshi diasporas in New York in various matters and various ways.
During the last visit of Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen to the USA, Senator Luis met him and mentioned that as he has been working for the Bangladesh community in New York for a long time he would travel to Bangladesh very soon.
He wished to continue his engagement with Bangladeshi expatriates residing in the New York city in a more fruitful and constructive manner.
The delegation arrives in the morning on 20 October and will leave Bangladesh on 26 October 2016.
The foreign ministry has organized some other programs for the eight member delegation and at their request, is only providing local hospitality.
The press release said that a few Bangladeshi-Americans may visit Bangladesh at the same time in absolutely personal capacities. “They are not part of the State Senators’ delegations or the arrangements made by the Bangladesh Government,” it added.
The senators will leave on October 26.
